April

8th Grade

Emily Kempton

This 8th grader is an outstanding student who excels academically. She thoughtfully contributes to class discussions, and is always willing to help a friend or teacher in need of assistance. Her smile brightens every room she enters, and her positive attitude is contagious. We are sad to see her move on to the high school, but we are certainly glad that she is a part of our school family. Congratulations, Emily Kempton!

Evan Bilodeau

This student sets the bar high for himself, both in academics and athletics. He is a positive role model for his peers as well as for our 6th and 7th grade students. Though he usually gets the job done quietly, he deserves this recognition. We’re super proud of him, and wish him luck at the high school. Congratulations, Evan Bilodeau!

Katelynn Blais

This student is friendly, funny, charming, and creative. She shows kindness and thoughtfulness to her classmates and teachers. Her work ethic is strong, and her attitude is positive. Reece Dubreuil

This student goes about his business quietly but purposefully. He is kind to his classmates and teachers, and models positivity and a strong work ethic. We look forward to seeing what he is able to accomplish next year and beyond! Congratulations, Reece Dubreuil!

Sarah Malinowski

This student is a strong advocate for herself and for others. She has quiet confidence and fierce determination inside and outside of the classroom. She is a true friend to others, and a delight to have in class. Congratulations, Sarah Malinowski!!

6th Grade

Karmen Carter

This sixth grader’s kindness knows no limit. She goes out of her way to make others smile, feel appreciated, and know they are cared for. Whether she is writing a nice note for a teacher, trying to save a teammate in PE, or laughing with friends, she shows kindness. She is polite to everyone, and always does what is asked of her to the best of her ability. She is willing to take risks and try new things, even if she is nervous. Her responsibility, integrity, and cooperation are some of the things that make her so special. Congratulations, Karmen Carter, you certainly deserve this recognition!

Amelia Betts

This student can often be seen smiling and chatting with her friends. She is kind and courteous to her classmates and teachers. She works hard in the classroom, and serves as a positive role model for others. She has set the bar high in her sixth grade year, so we expect even greater accomplishments next year. Aalayah Rubchinuk-Chase

This 6th grader has really shown great growth this year, and that doesn’t surprise us. She is super smart, friendly, funny, and hard-working. She treats everyone with kindness and compassion. We appreciate her positive attitude, and admire her generous spirit. Congratulations, Aalayah Rubchinuk-Chase!

Sammy Adam

This student comes to school with a smile on his face every day. He is eager to learn, and happy to see his friends and teachers. He has a positive attitude and makes us laugh every day. He does a great job using his newly learned skills in the classroom, works hard, and never gives up. We are proud of his hard work here at WMS. Congratulations, Sammy Adam!

Sam Drown

This student is simply a great kid. He is super polite, kind, hard-working, and meticulous. He is very artistic, and loves to paint–almost as much as he loves math. He is athletic, and participated in cross country and track. He’s got a brown belt in Karate. We also heard that he loves Jolly Ranchers, quesadillas, and chocolate milk. Congratulations, Sam Drown!

March

8th Grade

Grace Drown

This 8th grader is an accomplished runner, basketball player, and student. She is persistent in her pursuit of learning, not stopping until she understands everything. She is kind and helpful to everyone, not just her friends. She enjoys reading, writing, and watching Marvel movies. We’re proud of her, and happy to have her on our team. Luke Hopkins

This student is a hands-on learner who puts in the extra effort required to be successful. He has an infectious laugh, and is a great contributor to our school community. He exemplifies our core values, and enjoys spending time with friends. Outside of school, he is involved in karate, into video games, and skilled at woodworking. Congratulations, Luke Hopkins!

Olivia Huri

This student-athlete’s involvement extends beyond the teams she plays for, as seen in her assistance with the basketball team this year. She is a funny and charming person who is a joy to be around. She loves group work, as it allows her to help others. We’re so glad she’s here. Congratulations, Olivia Huri!

Avalon Allen

This student is friendly, funny, charming, and creative. She shows kindness and thoughtfulness to her classmates and teachers. Her work ethic is strong, and her attitude is positive. We are truly fortunate to have her on our team, and are proud of her accomplishments and growth this year. Congratulations, Avalon Allen!

Ben Cheng

This student has high expectations of himself, and is not content to settle for mediocrity. He is a determined student and a good friend to others. He is not one to back down from a challenge or to turn away someone in need. The world needs more people like him. Congratulations, Ben Cheng!

Emerson West

This student works through difficulties with persistence and grit. Whether in the classroom, on the court, or on the field, she is a fierce competitor and a strong supporter of her classmates and teammates. We can always count on her to have an encouraging word and a warm smile for others. Congratulations, Emerson West!

6th Grade

Annalise Lawson

This young lady is always thinking of others. She’s a good friend who goes out of her way to be kind to her classmates and helpful to her teachers. She checks in with her teachers when she is out, and even shares funny pictures and stories with them. She gives 110% on her schoolwork, and is willing to re-do assignments to make sure she puts forth her best work. Congratulations, Annalise Lawson!

Grace Folsom

This student goes about her business quietly, but efficiently and effectively. An “A” student, she puts forth tremendous effort in all of her classes. She is a good friend to others, and can often be seen sharing a laugh and a smile with her classmates and teachers. She personifies our core values, and we’re very proud of her. Ellie Mannisto

This sixth grader brightens up the whole building with her warm smile and positive attitude. She is a delight to have in the classroom, and can always be counted on to do what is expected of her. She has a quiet confidence about her, and has the potential to be a true leader. She is a kind and patient friend, and a diligent and determined student. Congratulations, Ellie Mannisto!

Kylee Savage

This student athlete is truly a force to be reckoned with. She is a strong student who cares about her schoolwork, and always gives her best effort. Conscientious and diligent, she is a positive role model for her classmates. She’s got a great sense of humor, and displays maturity beyond her years. Lydia St. Amant

This student is creative and unique. She is conscientious about her grades, and produces high quality work. She is well-liked by her peers, and is a talented artist. Derrick Gould

This student is described by staff as kind and friendly. He usually has a smile on his face and a positive attitude. He perseveres through the difficulties and challenges thrown at him, and continues to show great resilience. He has a warm heart and an endearing sense of humor. We’re so glad he’s here. Maryah Vereen

This student goes about her business quietly but effectively. She is an excellent scholar, and a good friend to others. She is not afraid to stand for what she believes in, and can be counted on to support her friends and classmates. Our school is a better place because she is a part of it. Romeo Rizza

This student has made an epic comeback this year, and we couldn’t be more proud of him. He has grown not only physically, but also socially, emotionally, and academically. Every day is a good day when he is here. We can’t wait to celebrate his next milestone. Congratulations, Romeo Rizza!

Jaelynn Reed-Carrier

This young lady knows how to persevere through challenges. She can always be counted on to be positive and engaged in what she is learning in the classroom. She is always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, whether it be a peer or adult. She adds to class discussions, and she’s a friend to all. She’s upbeat, kind, and puts forth a lot of effort in her schoolwork. It is with great pride that we announce Jaelynn-Reed Carrier as February’s Student of the Month.

Catherine Gustin

This student really enjoys interacting with her friends and teachers. Though she enjoys the social aspect of school, her academic accomplishments are impressive. She is hardworking, kind, and considerate of others. When she’s not doing school work, she can probably be found playing video games, or enjoying a playground. Parker Mangin

This student is described by staff as a stand-up human being with an enviable work ethic. In addition, he is smart, honest, and kind to all. He is responsible and dependable, and always strives to do the right thing. Congratulations, Parker Mangin, and keep up the good work!

Cole Montgomery

This student is friendly, funny, witty and intelligent. His contributions to class discussions are insightful and valued. His kindness towards others is heartwarming and appreciated. Brady Shuman

This student has been described by staff as focused and driven. He is known and admired not only for his academic achievements, but also for his athletic talents. Dylan Weymouth

This student has a great deal of heart and a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoys phys ed, math, and the great outdoors. Though he goes about his business quietly, we know that he is a positive, kind, and caring individual. Congratulations, Dylan Weymouth, for being named Student of the Month!

Breanna Barter

Haley Roman

This student has been described by staff as kind and friendly. She is incredibly intelligent, and approaches life with a wonderful attitude. She never complains, and tackles every assignment with enthusiasm. Her work ethic speaks for itself, and is on full display in and out of the classroom, as well as on and off the field. Kobe Drake

This student is one of the kindest and friendliest students you’ll ever meet. He is thoughtful and diligent in his work, and is always ready and willing to help a classmate or a teacher in need. He definitely makes our school a better place simply by being here and being himself. He shows respect and compassion to all, and goes about his business with a cooperative attitude. He is genuine, and displays integrity in his dealings with others. He makes others feel good about themselves. Alena Slocum

This student has a smile that shines through her mask. She is friendly, kind, and thoughtful to everyone she meets. Her grades demonstrate her commitment to personal and academic success. Gianni Haefele

This young man is hard working, asks great questions, and does very well in his classes. However, it is even more important to recognize his adherence to our Core Values. Every day this student shows integrity and responsibility in making good choices, regardless of who is watching. He is cooperative and will work with anyone. Elyse Hinkley

This student has a maturity about her that reaches far beyond her age and grade level. She is polite and kind as a rule, and never enters or leaves a room without a “hello,” “goodbye,” or “thank you.” She is conscientious and diligent with her schoolwork, and truly cares about putting forth her best effort. She is a talented writer with a positive attitude and friendly demeanor.

Porter Lavigne

This 6th grader really cares about his schoolwork. He pays attention to details, and it’s obvious that he wants to do well. He is polite to his classmates and to the adults in the building. He generously offers his time to those in need, and is patient when helping others. He is a positive role model for his peers, and they often turn to him for advice and direction. Breanna Rosenbaum

This student has been described by staff as creative and hard-working. She has made honors in every trimester of her middle school career. She is a good friend to others, and embodies all of our core values. Her academic commitment and success are evident in her promotion to Algebra class. She loves drawing and art, and is involved in community activities as well. The girl scouts are lucky to have her, and so are we! Congratulations, Breanna Rosenbaum!



Sladyn Nutt

This student is a role model in the classroom, showing a genuine interest in school and learning. He is mature, laser-focused, and well spoken. He shows kindness to all, and makes friends easily. He is respectful, helpful, and tries hard to always do the right thing. In addition, he is a three-sport athlete with a positive attitude. Daniel Hickey

Winthrop Middle School staff would like to recognize this young man for his outstanding work ethic, kind heart, and positive attitude. He is often the first to offer help to a student or staff member in need, and does so with a smile on his face. He has a wonderful sense of humor, and is not afraid to use it to cheer others up. Alayna Veilleux

This 7th grader quietly goes about her business here at school, but she has certainly not gone unnoticed. She participates enthusiastically in all classes, and sets the bar high for her own achievement. She maintains the highest grades in all of her classes, and is a joy to be around. She is kind, compassionate, caring, and creative. Her positive attitude and energy can be felt throughout the building. We can’t wait to see what amazing things she accomplishes this year! Galen Werner

This young man is a joy to have in the classroom and here at Winthrop Middle School. He can always be counted on to say a friendly “hello” every morning. He does exactly what he is asked and expected to do. He’s an excellent listener, and can often be counted upon to help others with technology issues--including teachers!

He perseveres through challenges, and does his best on his school work even if it’s difficult. He shows patience and understanding daily toward his peers and teachers. He isn’t afraid to try new things in science class. He has a wisdom about him which far exceeds that of a typical 6th grade student.

We’ve seen him lend a helping hand to classmates in need without being asked. His kindness and thoughtfulness toward others does not go unnoticed. It is with great pride that we announce Galen Werner as our 6th grade Student of the Month. Congratulations, Galen! We are so happy to have you here!

Haven Desrosiers

Who is smart, kind, helpful, and one of our first 6th grade Student of the Month choices? Haven Desrosiers, that’s who! This young lady is a perfect candidate for Student of the Month. Haven shows all the qualities that are important here at Winthrop Middle School, including displaying Responsibility, Respect, Compassion, Honesty, and Integrity.

You can usually find Haven on the soccer field, helping with her little sisters, or working on “Get More Math.” She is willing to help any teacher or student, and always does so with kindness. Her grades are something everyone should strive for, and she is a great role model for her peers. She is an active participant in class, always offering her ideas and insight. She is also not afraid to ask questions. Congratulations, Haven! Keep up the excellent work!
